"We have to save people at all costs!" At Premier Wen Jiabao's plea, 90 more helicopters were sent to quake-hit areas on Thursday. More People's Liberation Army soldiers have parachuted into the most remote regions. Rescuers are searching the ruins for life. Supplies are being airdropped and communication is being restored.
On the People's Daily website, a "netizen" says: "From the disaster site, the familiar and resolute voice made the victims calm. The 65-year-old man helped us to weep. This is our Government, this is our Premier Wen, whose heart is entwined with ours." "I am Grandpa Wen," he yelled to trapped school students. "You will be rescued."
People from China are blessed with the man of the moment. Needless to say, his efforts would be deeply remembered in the hearts of many in China. I was amazed and touched by how one can rise to the occasion. Not that I would want my country to be in such crisis, but I am just curious about how our government would react during such difficult times. This really leaves me pondering for a moment.
Regardless of what, I believe history will surely remember Premier Wen JiaBao as one of the greatest premier in the China's history.
