Global Immersion Programme

What is the Global Immersion Programme?

The GIP is initiated as a component of the New Undergraduate Experience in NTU. It aims to provide NTU students the experience of studying and working abroad.

Through this programme, NTU students will have the opportunity to develop the Edge in their career, build a global network and achieve significant personal development by spending a semester abroad. Students going to China, India and Vietnam also have the chance to be professionally attached to multinational companies, leading companies and start-ups in well known hi-tech parks. 22 weeks in Suzhou will be lonely and full of unknowns. During my stay, I will be understudying as an electrical engineer in JURONG International (www.jurong.com.cn). I really hope I will learn some skills relevant to what I am going to do next time when I graduate. Also, not forgetting the fridays and saturdays which I hope will be well-spent in Fudan University in Shanghai.

This is the first time in my life I would be traveling all alone to a far-away place. To be honest, as much as I am looking forward to stepping onto new grounds, the thought of leaving my lovely home to a place full of uncertainties and challenges scares me sometimes. However, Franklin Roosevelt once said "The only limit to our realization of tomorrow will be our doubts of today." Therefore, I always tell myself that be it everything I do, there is always the first time; only when I am no longer afraid, I shall live life to the fullest.

Just hope that people in Singapore especially my parents and SO will not worry for me too much and lose their precious sleep. Rest assured that I will taking good care of myself. I'm a big boy and young man now!
